Linen sprays are such a beautiful way to make our homes feel special – a lovely way to feel pampered, and to encourage a good night’s sleep too. Linen sprays are so easy to make, and you can completely tailor them to your own likes. In addition to spritzing bedding, towels, and even curtains, I enjoy using mine to iron too! Sprays can be created just for scent alone, or to help with insomnia, anxiety, allergies, etc.
There are a few different ways you can base your sprays. I suggest blending in a 2 to 4 oz bottle so that your spray stays fresh. It is your choice if you would rather use distilled water, hydrosol(s), or a blend of both. For each 2 ounces of water, use about 14 to 16 drops of essential oils. You may also add a small bit of unflavored vodka or everclear which will act as a natural preservative and dispersant. If blending in a 2 oz spray bottle, just a teaspoon or so of vodka or everclear is sufficient.
To get you started, here is a gorgeous recipe which will make your linens smell wonderful and will encourage a good night’s sleep too: 2 oz. Lavender hydrosol, 2 oz. Patchouli hydrosol, 4 drops Lemon essential oil, 2 drops Cedarwood essential oil, 5 drops Lavender essential oil, and 5 drops Rose essential oil. Blend all in spray bottle, shake well before each use.
Let your imagine run wild and have fun creating your own unique linen spray blends. Let me know what you are blending and the intention of the spray!
