Therapeutic Benefits of Beeswax

Uncategorized

31 May

Have you ever smelled pure, organic, gorgeous beeswax? The aroma is heavenly – mild, sweet, with hints of “sunshiny” honey. It not only smells incredible, but has some amazing therapeutic benefits, and is a carrier I use often when blending.

Beeswax is an ideal choice when preparing many different items. It is analgesic and anti-inflammatory, making it perfect for pain and inflammation salves. It is an anti-oxidant and very skin healing – it hydrates and soothes skin, as well as preventing harmful bacterial from entering the body. This makes it a wonderful carrier when helping with all types of skin care, including blends for eczema, psoriasis, wound care, skin hydrators and even lip balms. I also reach for beeswax when preparing decongestant chest rubs and sleep support salves. Depending on the amount of beeswax used in a recipe, harder or softer products can be made.

Beeswax is naturally generated and secreted by honey bees, and has a very stable shelf life of about twenty years, so you can stock up!

When I purchase new beeswax, I just love to close my eyes and inhale the sweet aroma, and pause for a moment to give thanks for the amazing work of honey bees for providing this for our use! Beeswax is truly an example of nature at her finest.
